Richard Allen “Dick” Taylor, 76, Syracuse, passed away at 9:57 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at IU Health Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 20, 1941 in Bangor, Mich. to Charles Wesley “Pete” and Thelma Mae (Galbraith) Taylor.

He attended Bangor High School in Bangor. He served in the United States Marines and was married on April 24, 1965, in South Haven, Mich. to Helen G. Reiland who survives. He moved to the Cromwell and Syracuse area in 1965 from Michigan. He retired in 2002 from Armbruster Farms after ten years as a maintenance and repair man. He was formerly employed at Rinker Boats in Syracuse and Supreme Corporation in Goshen.

He attended St. Martin’s De Porres Catholic Parish in Syracuse and was a member of American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid bowler in Syracuse.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters: Marcia (Scott) Hiatt, Elkhart; Teresa (Brian) Weideman, Milford; Melissa (David) York, Gaffney, S.C.; son, Brian (Patricia) Taylor, Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Barter, Bremen; Ruth Ann Haggard, Ligonier; two step-brothers: David (Tracy) Smeltzer and Mark (Cindy) Smeltzer, Mountain Springs, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and a brother, Bill Taylor.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Military honors will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
