Osie Hopkins Shoemaker, 92, Akron, passed at 1:45 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2018, at her residence.

She was born on Oct. 20, 1925, in Salyersville, Ky, to Frank and Ella (Wireman) Shepherd.

She married on May 16, 1949, in Warsaw, to Thomas Hopkins, who passed on June 17, 1978. She then married on Jan. 2, 1988, in Akron, to Cecil Shoemaker, who passed Sept. 9, 2015.

She had worked at Chamberlin Products of Akron, as well as being a homemaker.

She attended the Akron Church of God where she served in many roles. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved flowers, gardening, puzzles, and cooking.

She is survived by her children: Connie (Kevin) Jones, Rochester; Carol (Stan) Mitterling, Akron; Mary Hall, Winchester, Ky.; Tom Hopkins Jr., Warsaw; Don (Beth) Hopkins, Akron; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Joe Shepherd, Silver Lake; Jeff (Vicki) Shepherd, Silver Lake; Jeff (Vicki) Shepherd, Leesburg; sisters: Jane Harman, Wabash; Avanell (Gary) Smith, Akron. Also surviving are her late husband Cecil’s children, Kay (Dean), Bill (Lucy) and Ron (Jan).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and six brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, July 8, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 9, also at the funeral home. Pastors Kathy Nelson and Terry Canfield will officiate. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
