David Michael Newell was born June 20, 1943, in Fort Wayne, to Foster and Julia Newell.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Foster and Julia Newell, his first wife, Dianna K Votaw Newell, infant son David Michael and his brother  Steven Newell.

Dave Newell graduated from Bluffton School. He attended Indiana Tech and Purdue University. He worked for Daily Construction, Indiana State Highway and Allen County Highway. He was vice  president of Newell Construction in Bluffton with his sons Rob and Pat.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 0253 for 45 years, The 40 and 8 and The Salamonie Trail Riders.

Surviving are his wife, Betsy Newell; son, Robert C. And Melonie Newell; son, Patrick K Newell; daughter, AshleyK Knafel , son Joe and Suzanne Meggison. Grandchildren Breanna Newell, Spencer Newell, (Jason )Shawn Hierholzer, KiLee Knafel, Korey Knafel Josie and Jentry Meggison. Great grandchildren Dillion,Bryant, Elli and Eleanor Hierholzer. The love of his life his dog Happy also survives.
