Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
5:32 p.m. Thursday, June 28, East US 30, west of Arnolt Drive, Pierceton. Drivers: Gerald Bishop, 74, Thompson Avenue, Fort Wayne; Ronald Blanton, 45, US 30, Pierceton; Stephen Elsner, 28, Hendricks Street, Warsaw; and Samantha Benton, 24, Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne. Bishop noticed that traffic was backed up due to traffic ahead and attempted to slow down. Bishop’s vehicle rear-ended Blanton’s vehicle. Bishop’s vehicle then struck Elsner’s vehicle, which caused Elsner’s vehicle to collide with Benton’s vehicle. Bishop was transported by EMS for injuries. Damages up to $100,000.
9:56 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, West CR 800S, east of South CR 100W, Silver Lake. Driver: Janelle Roberts, 38, Laurie Circle, Jackson, Tenn. Roberts’ vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.
5:27 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, North Old Road 15 and East CR 900N, Milford. Drivers: Neil Schroder, 33, SR 16, Twelve Mile; and Christina Swick, 38, Turkey Creek Road, Syracuse. Schroder did not stop his vehicle at the four-way stop intersection and crashed into Swick’s vehicle. Shroder’s vehicle also struck a junction box belonging to Norfolk Southern Railroad. Shroder pointed out that the stop sign was partially blocked by foliage and the overhead red flashing light was not functioning. Swick and her two passengers Skylynn Swick, 15, Syracuse, and Eric Swick, 15, Syracuse, were transported for injuries. Damages up to $50,000.
10:45 a.m. Monday, June 25, West CR 700S and South CR 600W, Claypool. Driver: Jessie Ingle, 56, Catalpa Lane, Warsaw. Ingle’s vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. Damages up to $1,000.
4:20 p.m. Saturday, June 23, West CR 1350N and North CR 950W, Nappanee. Drivers: Jay Myers, 20, East CR 100N, Akron; and Keith Schwartz, 44, North CR 1050W, Nappanee. Schwartz had a stop sign but pulled his vehicle into the path of Myer’s vehicle. Both vehicles collided, crashed through a fence and ended up in a pasture. Myers’ vehicle was pulling a boat trailer with a boat on it and Schwartz’s vehicle was pulling a small utility trailer. A passenger in Schwartz’s vehicle, Brian Miller, 19, Etna Green, was transported by EMS for head injuries. Damages up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:52 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 1010 N. Indiana Ave., Syracuse. Drivers: Allan Poe, 67, Country Cove Drive, Syracuse; and Thomas Williams, 72, Laurelwood Drive, Warsaw. Poe backed his vehicle out of a parking spot and struck Williams’ vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, SR 13 and CR 1300N, Syracuse. Driver: Robert Kiffe, 51, Jackson St., Blaine, Minn. A horse ran into the side of Kiffe’s vehicle. The owner of the horse stated they were attempting to catch the horse when it ran across SR 13 from CR 1300N. Damages up to $25,000.
9:38 a.m. Friday, June 22, North CR 500E, north of East CR 950N, Syracuse. Driver: Christopher Cotton, 49, EMS T16 Lane, Leesburg. Cotton’s vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:41 a.m. Friday, June 29, 1501 Armstrong Road, Warsaw. Driver: Nicolae Vacaru, 43, Claremont Avenue, Chicago. Vacaru was backing into a private drive and struck a garage door. Damages up to $2,500.
