CLAYPOOL — Police arrested a Claypool man after a female reported battery.

Joshua Forrest Hamman, 39, 4416 West CR 525S, Claypool, is being charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On April 20, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic battery complaint. A female told officers that as a result of cheating on Hamman, he beats her all the time. She advised that on April 20, Hamman hit her on the face and choked her.

Officers were able to observe and photograph bruises on the female’s face and neck.

Hamman stated he knew nothing about the bruises and claimed that the female is an alcoholic and “probably did it falling down.”

Hamman was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on June 11, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
