KOSCIUSKO — An Elkhart woman was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court Monday, June 11, after officers discovered meth in a vehicle.
Anna Elizabeth Warner, 223 Middlebury St., Elkhart, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony.
On July 27, 2017, Warsaw Police Department officers witnessed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal, causing them to conduct a traffic stop.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers searched the vehicle and discovered a smoking device with marijuana residue, two tubes containing marijuana, and digital scales with methamphetamine residue.
Warner also admitted that she placed three plastic bags of methamphetamine into one of her body orifices.
Defense attorney Scott Lennox addressed the court and said that Warner is working to better herself.
“I made a mistake in the past,” said Warner. “And I’m working very hard to put my life back together.”
Judge Michael Reed sentenced Warner to one year in the Kosciusko County Jail, which is to be served consecutively to another case. As long as she is accepted, Warner can serve that time through work release or community corrections.
