Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
11:26 a.m. Monday, June 4, South Packerton Road, south of East CR 400S, Warsaw. Driver: Robin F. Gannon, 57, West CR 700S, Claypool. Gannon told police she was driving her vehicle south on Packerton Road when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
8:22 a.m. Monday, June 4, East Armstrong Road and North 1st St., Leesburg. Drivers: John B. Hollinger, 62, EMS C27 Lane, Warsaw; Benjamin D. Guy, 40, EMS W30B Lane, North Webster. Hollinger told police he was stopped at a stop sign on 1st Street and did not see the vehicle driven by Guy. Hollinger pulled his vehicle into the path of Guy’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
4:10 p.m. Sunday, June 3, East CR 900N and North CR 500E, Syracuse. Drivers: Celestine M. Bowens-Martin, 50, North Chester Ave., Indianapolis; Librety A. Sielesnew, 19, North CR 700E, Warsaw. Bowens-Martin told police she was stopped at a stop sign on CR 900N at the intersection with CR 500E and said she looked both ways and didn’t see another vehicle until she proceeded and drove into the path of Sielesnew’s vehicle. Sielesnew was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries related to the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
3:32 a.m. Friday, June 1, East CR 1300N, west of North CR 175E, Milford. Driver: Drew A. Hibbs, 17, South Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse. Hibbs told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 1300N when a vehicle traveling eastbound crossed over the center line and into his lane. This caused his vehicle to leave the roadway, striking a utility pole and rolling over one time before coming to rest back on its wheels in a field. Hibbs, as well as two rear-seat passengers were treated at the scene for minor injuries but a front seat passenger in Hibbs’ vehicle was flown by helicopter to a South Bend hospital for treatment. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:16 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, US 30 and CR 150W, Warsaw. Driver: Shannon M. Hannon, 36, West CR 250S, LaPorte. Hannon told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway and struck her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
6:28 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, North Detroit Street, north of Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: James W. Wyrick, 54, Frances Slocum Trail, Marion; Kenneth L. Hudson, 60, Mason Boulevard, Apartment 3, Marion. Wyrick told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on Detroit Street and was approaching the Center Street intersection. He said he thought the traffic light had turned green but by the time he realized Hudson’s vehicle was still stopped, he was unable to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $10,000.
6 p.m. Monday, June 4, Mariners Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Leeann Wilson Estrada, 19, East Van Buren Street, Leesburg. Wilson Estrada told police she was backing out of a parking space in the YMCA parking lot and struck a parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
3:11 p.m. Monday, June 4, South Detroit Street and Pope Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Todd M. Gearhart, 45, East CR 1200S, Claypool; Cassandra S. Schnitz, 30, East Water 17, Akron. Gearhart told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on Detroit Street and was waiting for northbound traffic to clear so he could negotiate a left turn. He turned to look to see if a train was approaching after hearing the train whistle. He then turned left and into the path of Schnitz, who was driving northbound. Damage up to $10,000.
2:45 p.m. Monday, June 4, West Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: James A. Hastings, 35, Short Ridge Drive, Warsaw. Hastings was driving a forklift for the City of Warsaw in a parking lot and struck a parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:08 a.m. Saturday, June 2, Auditorium Blvd. and West Canal Street, Winona Lake. David E. Porter of Winona Lake told police he parked his vehicle the night before and noticed in the morning that someone had struck his vehicle in the left rear. Police observed red paint transfer on Porter’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
