Delta Marie Shipley, 90, Warsaw, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Thursday May 17, 2018, at Lake City Place in Warsaw. She was born on July 2, 1927 in Silver Lake to George Peter and Elta Cleo (Parker) Baker.

She graduated in 1945 from Claypool High School and on July 5, 1946 in Silver Lake, she married Robert L. “Bob” Shipley, who preceded her on Jan. 23, 2004. She moved to the Warsaw and North Webster area in August 1958 from Claypool. She was a homemaker and retired from Sears in Warsaw after 32 years. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening and crafts. She sold her crafts, flowers, and vegetables at the Warsaw Fairground Farmers Market for many years. She was known as “Crafty Bake” and sold thousands of crocheted “scrubbers.”

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster, where she formerly served as a nursery and Sunday school teacher for many years, and attended the Church of God in North Webster.

She is survived by her four daughters: Claudia (Ron Longyear) Brown, Leesburg; Ginger (Max) Beer, Milford; Kimera Zink, North Webster; and Melisa (Jay) Van Sickle, Leesburg; a son, Ronald (Cathy) Shipley, Leesburg; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sister, Gloria Shipley, Leesburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Phyllis Sittler, and brother, Donald Baker.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
