MILFORD — Attendees to the 2018 Milford Fest certainly did not suffer from lack of options.

Throughout the day one could enjoy carnival rides — including a ferris wheel, super slide, tilt-a-whirl and more — go shopping — either at the festival itself or among the numerous garage sales in the surrounding neighborhoods — listen to live music, get your face painted, take in a car, tractor and motorcycle show, a talent showcase or take a break from the heat with ice cream or a cold beverage while watching it all go by.

Of course, much of the day revolved around food. Milford Kiwanis Club kicked things off with a sausage and pancake breakfast at 6 a.m.; the Milford Fire Department kept things going with 500 rib-eye steak sandwiches; the Milford Food Bank celebrated its new space on Emeline Street with a free lunch — along with free Christmas Trees — and Milford Lions Club, which organized the festival, had its own food tent serving hamburgers and hot dogs.

With temperatures reaching 90 degrees, shady side streets provided a respite from the sunny Main Street midway area. The Friends of Milford Library, for example, provided a cool spot to browse for books beneath the trees.

The car, truck and tractor show also took place in a shadier area of the festival, and a number of participants could be seen lounging near their vehicles on lawn chairs.

Milford Fest came to a close following the street dance, powered by the rhythms of Big Daddy Dupree and the Broke and Hungry Blues Band until 9 p.m.. Earlier acts included The Spaniels, Quentin Flagg and The Living Word.

Milford Fest sponsors included the town of Milford, Beer & Jessop Amusements, Chore Time Brock, Phend & Brown, The Papers Inc. and other local businesses, individuals and organizations.
