Grace Baseball: Trio Honored By Conference
WINONA LAKE – Three members of the Grace College baseball team were given recognition on the postseason All-Crossroads League Team.
Austin Baker, David Anderson and Houston Haney were all named honorable mention All-League for the Lancers.
Baker recorded team-highs in several areas this year, including hits (41), home runs (4) and RBIs (33). He batted .275 for the season but upped that average to .306 in league play. He racked up an impressive 14 extra-base hits and 25 RBIs in 26 league games.
Anderson finished with the best batting average in the past 17 years of Grace’s program after hitting a sizzling .420. He ended the year with a seven-game hitting streak, amassing 15 hits, 9 runs, 6 RBIs and 2 home runs during that span.
Anderson also finished second on Grace’s pitching staff in innings pitched (46.2) and strikeouts (37).
Haney enjoyed a breakout freshman season, pounding out 40 hits in 41 games for a .276 average. He hit 18 doubles, marking the most doubles in the 59-year history of Grace’s program. Haney led the league with 16 doubles in league competition.
