Everlie Newcomer and her grandma, Nancy Newcomer, pose for a photo during a tea party at Spring Story Time Wednesday, May 9. Though the tea party marked the end of Spring Story Time, Summer Story Time for all ages will begin Friday, June 8.

MILFORD — The Milford Public Library will host the following summer events:

Summer Reading Program Sign-Up Begins June 4

Mark your calendars. Children and teens can sign up for the Summer Reading Program starting June 4 and begin earning prizes. This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock!”

Children going into fifth grade and younger will sign up in the children’s department. Teens entering sixth grade will sign up in the adult department. No library card is needed to participate in the Summer Reading Program.

Over the summer, children and teens will vote for one of the following community projects. The project receiving the most votes will be the one we sponsor as part of our summer reading program.

  • Items for Milford School Choir
  • Items for Milford School Band
  • Items for Milford School Orchestra

Mark’s Ark

Milford Public Library will kick off the Summer Reading Program with Mark’s Ark animal program at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, in the Milford Community Building. All Mark’s Ark animals are safe and people friendly. You will “meet” the animals and be able to pet some of them. This free program will last about 45 minutes. No library card or registration is needed.

Summer Story Time Begins!

Families can earn a free book for attending Summer Story Time Fridays in June and July. Summer Story Time is for all ages and combines storytelling with a snack and a craft. Guest storytellers will present programs centered on the summer theme of “Libraries Rock!” including sessions  about song, dance, musicians and other fun topics.

Summer Story Time will be offered with sessions at 10 and 11 a.m. starting Friday, June 8 through Friday, July 13. A family can earn up to 6 free books just by attending each of the summer story times. No library card is needed. Please register by calling (574) 658-4312 or at the children’s circulation desk.
