Plymouth had its pitching going in this one.
The Pilgrims shut down the potent NorthWood bats to post a 3-0 win.
The game, which was moved to Plymouth due to field conditions at NorthWood, was a huge Northern Lakes Conference contest.
NorthWood, ranked No. 8 in Class 3-A, falls to 17-4 overall. The Panthers are now tied atop the NLC standings with both Plymouth and Goshen at 10-3.
The duo of Cam Dennie and Cole Filson combined to hold the Panthers to just one hit. Dennis worked the first three innings with one strikeout and one walk. Filson then worked the final four frames for the winners.
Plymouth outhit the Panthers 8-1 and played errorless baseball. NorthWood has three errors in the contest.
Brant Mast had the lone hit for NorthWood, which won the NLC title at 14-0 last year.
Alec Holcomb took the pitching loss as he went six innings with six strikeouts and one walk.
Dennie and Jesus Luua each had multiple hits for the Pilgrims.
NorthWood will play at Goshen in a huge NLC finale Wednesday night. The Panthers lost 12-5 to the RedHawks in their first meeting this season.
Plymouth will host Northridge in its league finale Wednesday night and with a win will clinch a share of the NLC title.
Softball
The NorthWood softball team picked up a win at Plymouth.
The Panthers outhit the host Pilgrims 10-4 en route to the 8-1 win in Northern Lakes Conference play.
NorthWood scored single runs in the second and third innings and four in the fifth and a pair in the sixth in the league victory.
Gracie Clark picked up the pitching win and also had two hits for the Panthers.
Lili Lomeli and Grace Anglemyer each also had two hits for the winners. Anglemyer and Kylie Hochstetler each had a double for the Panthers.
NorthWood hosts NLC foe Goshen Wednesday night.
