KOSCIUSKO — Members of the Kosciusko County Master Gardeners Association spent their Monday afternoon planting flowers and other plants in the alley next to Warsaw’s City Hall.

Connie Street-Fribley and Brenda Houtz beautified areas of the alleyway by volunteering their time to plant new vegetation.

“We thought this was a perfect opportunity to both benefit the community and also get in our volunteer hours,” said Street-Fribley.

Both Street-Fribley and Houtz are graduating members of the Master Gardener program. While in the program, members are required to complete community service hours.

“I feel the need to give back to the community,” said Houtz. “And we both love planting!”

Through community donations and a matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, adequate funding was received to completely change the alley. The alley, located off of Buffalo Street, is complete with tables and chairs, landscaping, art, shade and even WiFi. They alley was opened to the public last September.
