Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
3:14 a.m. Friday, May 11, North SR 19, north of West Hepton Road, Nappanee. Police reported that a vehicle registered to James L. Hare, East 4th Street, North Manchester, was found unoccupied in a field with with damage to its front end and roof as well as broken out windows. Police said the vehicle had been traveling northbound on SR 19 when it left the west side of the roadway, striking a telephone pole and continuing westbound into the field. Damage up to $10,000.
9:43 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, North SR 13, south of East CR 150N, Pierceton. Driver: Jesse L. Miller, 20, First Street, Liberty Mills. Miller told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He said he was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
8:13 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, South SR 19 and West CR 800S, Warsaw. Drivers: Tonya M. Duguid, 42, West Catalpa Lane, Warsaw; Gabrielle A. Olson, 17, Blackford Drive, Tippecanoe. Duguid told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 800S and stopped at a stop sign on SR 19. Duguid told police she looked both ways before proceeding through the intersection but that the vehicle driven by Olson approached at a high rate of speed and collided with her vehicle. Olson told police she was driving the speed limit and a witness to the crash told police Duguid seemed distracted and that she drove her vehicle into the intersection and into the path of Olson’s vehicle. Damage up to $50,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:55 p.m. Thursday, May 10, Deelyn Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Paul Rivera, 54, East Market Street, Warsaw. Rivera told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound in a parking lot when he swerved his vehicle out of the travel portion of the lot, causing a side swipe with a parked vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
1:35 p.m. Thursday, May 10, Sue Avenue, north of Greenhill Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Alejandra Delcid, 24, Dot Street, Warsaw. Delcid told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on Sue Avenue following a red pickup truck. According to Delcid, the driver of the truck stopped at a stop sign at Greenhill Drive, proceeded into the intersection, stopped suddenly and then began to back the pickup truck, which caused the truck to strike Delcid’s vehicle. Delcid then told police the driver of the red pickup truck drove away, leaving the scene of the accident. Damage up to $1,000.
