Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
12:44 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, South SR 25, south of South Ferguson Road, Warsaw. Driver: Tessa K. Patrick, 26, West CR 250S, Warsaw. Patrick advised she lost control of her vehicle and rolled it. She was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by ambulance. Patrick was asked to take a chemical test and refused. Damage up to $2,500.
5:04 p.m. Monday, May 7, North CR 850E, north of North Hoss Hill Road, North Webster. Driver: Scott H. Towns, 19, North Elm Grove Drive, Syracuse. Towns advised that he was going around a curve on a gravel road and saw a black car in his lane of travel. Towns stated he avoided the other vehicle but lost control of his vehicle, going off the road and down an embankment. His vehicle struck multiple trees. Towns was transported from the scene by ambulance. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:10 p.m. Monday, May 7, North Parker Street and US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Courtney J. France, 33, West 12st Street, Winona Lake; and Mark A. Jablonski, 35, Patterson Road, Warsaw. France’s vehicle struck Jablonski’s vehicle when France was attempting to change lanes. Damage up to $10,000.
Elkhart
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
8:44 a.m. Monday, May 7, CR 9, south of US 6, Nappanee. Driver: Karinna Alondra Diaz, 19, Nappanee. Diaz suffered severe head trauma and internal injuries she was flown by MedFlight to Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Diaz drove her vehicle through the activated railroad crossing stop arm and disregarded the flashing signals of an approaching train and then stopped her vehicle on the tracks. Diaz’s vehicle was struck by a westbound CSX train with 104 cars.
Marshall
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
12:30 a.m. Sunday, May 6, US 6 and Pine Road. Driver: Travis J. Weist, 25, Plymouth. When officials arrived on scene they observed a vehicle off the roadway fully engulfed in flames. Officers checked the vehicle and found no occupants in the vehicle. They discovered Weist, the driver, had exited the vehicle and was the only occupant standing by a residence. He was checked by Walkerton EMS and refused medical treatment. He was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .15 percent or higher.
