SYRACUSE — The sun was shining for the third Tails and Trails event in Syracuse, today, April 28. The event was hosted by the Syracuse-Wawasee Trails Committee to kick off the 2018 trail season.

Jamie Richardson and son Ethan are ready to hit the trail with Lucy and Monte.

Megan McClellan, executive director, welcomed the participants to this year’s event. The route was a five-mile walk around Syracuse Lake on the trail, with a rest stop along the way. The employees of Mutual Bank had a tent and snacks and water not only for the humans, but also for the canines who were participating.

“It was a great opening to the 2018 trail season,” McClellan stated after the walkers took off.

Starting after 2 p.m., the event was estimated to end at 3:45 p.m. with the drawing for the seven raffle prizes. The prizes were donated by area merchants.
