Girls tennis
Triton’s girls tennis team moved to 4-0 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference with a 4-1 victory over LaVille Thursday.
Kolbie Mason and Molly McFarland earned a pair of lopsided wins at 1 and 2 singles, as Mason shut out Rachel Ross 0-0, and McFarland downed Charlet Kapke 1-0. Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler beat Haylea Girst and Cassie Keilwan, 6-1, 6-3 at 2 doubles, and Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross beat Sydney Han and Emily Cain 6-3, 6-2 at 1 doubles.
Taylor Garrett topped Haley Hooley in a competitive two-setter at 3 singles, 3-4 in LaVille’s only win.
Triton’s varsity moved to 7-0 on the year overall, and the Lady Trojans JV lineup earned a 4-0 win.
Triton is back in action at the Concord Invitational Saturday. The team will be without seniors Wanemacher, Mason and Ross, as the trio departs for their high school’s senior trip.
Baseball
Two big innings by LaVille earned the Lancers the sweep of Triton in their second straight Hoosier North Athletic Conference game Thursday.
The Lancers plated five runs in the fourth and another five in the sixth while holding the Trojans to a single run in the sixth inning. The win echoed an earlier 9-0 victory by LaVille Tuesday.
Complete stats from Thursday’s contest were not available.
Triton dropped to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the HNAC. LaVille improved to 5-0 in the conference with an 8-1-1 overall mark.
