Baseball

The offense was in high gear for the NorthWood baseball team.

The Panthers lit up the scoreboard to outscore Elkhart Memorial 15-11 in Northern Lakes Conference play.

NorthWood scored four runs in the first and second innings and added a three-spot in both the third and seventh frames to turn back the host Crimson Chargers.

The Panthers piled up 15 hits in the win. Matt Dutkowski, along with Hunter Warren, Brant Mast and Brock Miller, all had multiple hits for NorthWood.

Jason Cripe notched the pitching win for NorthWood. He allowed four hits and five runs over five iinnings in relief with five strikeouts.

NorthWood improves to 9-1 overall and goes to 5-0 in NLC action.

NorthWood plays at Jimtown Thursday and at NLC foe Plymouth Friday.

 

Softball

The NorthWood softball team dropped a 5-3 final to Elkhart Memorial.

The Panthers led 1-0 with a run in the second in the Northern Lakes Conference game in Nappanee. The Chargers scored once in the fourth to tie the game before NorthWood scored a run to take a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Memorial scored a pair of runs in both the fifth and seventh innings to earn the league win.

Lili Lomeli led the offense for NorthWood with two hits.

Kylie Thornton, Gracie Clark, Brooklyn Troyer and Kennedy Hochstetler each had a hit for the Panthers.

NorthWood, which has lost three straight NLC games in three nights this week, drops to 6-6 overall and 1-4 in league action.

The Panthers hosts NLC foe Plymouth Friday night.
