KOSCIUSKO — A Syracuse man was arrested after officers discovered him napping in a Warsaw parking lot with methamphetamine, syringes and paraphernalia.

Ryan Michael Kennelly, 31, 50 EMS D24B Lane, Syracuse, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

On April 3, an officer responded to a male subject asleep in a vehicle at the Depuy parking lot. Depuy security advised that the subject was not an employee. The officer was able to identify the subject as Kennelly, who said he was there to have lunch with his girlfriend who was an employee at Depuy.

The officer discovered that Kennelly had active felony warrants for failure to appear, possession of methamphetamine and possession of chemical reagents. While arrested Kennelly on the warrants, he admitted to using methamphetamine and heroin the day before.

Inside the vehicle, the officer discovered two unused syringes, a silver spoon with burnt residue, three syringe tops, two used cotton balls and an empty plastic tube. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, when the officer discovered the syringes, Kennelly advised he “might” be diabetic.

Kennelly was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on April 3, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
