Claypool

Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:

1:05 p.m. Friday, April 13, CR 200S, east of County Farm Road. Drivers: Justin L. Hurt, 31, West CR 1150S, Silver Lake, and Sarah J. Kenney, 46, East CR 725S, Warsaw. Hurt was traveling east on CR 200S when his vehicle rear-ended Kenney’s postal truck. Damage up to $1,000.

 

Kosciusko

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

5:05 p.m. Sunday, April 15, West Summy Road, east of North CR 625W, Etna Green. Driver: Brooks Helmuth, 33, North Park Ave., Warsaw. Helmuth was traveling east off CR 625W into a field. Helmuth’s vehicle jumped over a large pile of dirt, going into the air. Helmuth’s vehicle came crashing down to the ground. Helmuth was checked out by EMS personnel for back injuries. Damage up to $10,000.

2:25 p.m. Sunday, April 15, West SR 25, west of South CR 800W, Mentone. Driver: Courtney L. Rater, 34, East High St. 1, Mentone. Rater was traveling east on SR 25, following a vehicle that began to complete a right turn. As Rater applied her brakes to reduce speed, her vehicle’s brakes locked up, causing Rater to lose control of her vehicle. Rater’s vehicle exited the roadway and struck a ditch, causing her vehicle to overturn and land on its top. Damage up to $5,000.

1:29 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 525 East Camp Mack Road, Milford. Driver: Brandon L. Taylor, 27, East Genesee Lane, Cromwell. Angela M. Thorn, 28, was tired and she let Taylor, her brother-in-law, drive her vehicle. Thorn fell asleep and when she woke up, the vehicle had crashed through two garages and Taylor had fled the scene of the accident. Richard L. Harwick, 28, and Thorn’s two daughters were present in the vehicle. Warwick complained of pain in his shoulder and upper arm, and Thorn complained of pain in her chest. Thorn’s two daughters were not injured. The owners of the damaged garages, Jana Strollery and Michael H. Levy, were contacted about this accident. Taylor was not located at the time of the report, but a warrant has been requested for his arrest for leaving the scene of an accident and driving while suspended prior. Damage over $100,000.

4:15 a.m. Sunday, April 15, South CR 450W, south of West Union St., Warsaw. Driver: Shanan L. Cochran, 47, South Waxwing Lane, Warsaw. Cochran was traveling north on CR 450W when she approached several deer standing in the roadway. Cochran’s vehicle attempted to stop, but was unable to do so, causing her vehicle to strike one of the deer. Damage up to $2,500.

11:40 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 56 East Bell Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Drew J. Beverly, 19, South CR 275E, Warsaw. Beverly’s vehicle was in a parking lot on the west side of Zimmer Biomet when he lost control of his vehicle on the wet pavement. His vehicle was traveling west when he struck a cement base to a light pole. Damage up to $10,000.

1:21 p.m. Saturday, April 14, East US 30, west of South SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Kreg A. Kuhn, 29, East Gault St., Atwood. Kuhn was operating an emergency vehicle while traveling east on US 30. As his vehicle entered a median to get around stopped traffic, Kuhn’s vehicle lost traction, causing it to slide into a roadway sign. Damage up to $5,000.

10:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, US 30, west of East Van Ness Road, Warsaw. Driver: Amy M. Pavel, 21, West Huntington St., North Webster. Pavel was traveling east on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.

4:25 p.m. Friday, April 13, South SR 25, west of West CR 250S, Warsaw. Driver: Jack R. Friedman, 65, Stonebridge Drive, Elkhart. Friedman was traveling west on SR 25 when his motorcycle went off the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle rolled over on the right side, throwing Friedman onto the ground. Friedman complained of pain to his right arm and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $2,500.

 

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

9:41 p.m. Saturday, April 14, Jalynn St. and North Detroit St., Warsaw. Driver: Morgynn L. Summers, 19, West CR 550N, Warsaw. Summers was traveling east on Jalynn St. when a traffic light changed from green to yellow. As she stopped at the traffic light, a semi truck with a box trailer continued into the intersection as the light changed to red. While making the right turn, the semi truck struck Summers’ vehicle on the driver’s side, causing significant damage. The semi then continued south on Detroit St. The driver of the semi is unknown at this time. Damage up to $25,000.

12:49 p.m. Friday, April 13, 1200 Meijer Drive. Drivers: Barbara V. Eichman, 72, South Magee Road, Warsaw, and Brookelyn R. Prater, 16, West Tower St., Pierceton. Eichman’s vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Meijer Drive when she proceeded to turn, not noticing Prater’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.

8:43 a.m. Friday, April 13, US 30, east of Center St. Ext. Drivers: Elyssa A. Busche, 38, Holton Ave., Fort Wayne, and Michelle R. Barton, 48, East Old Trail Road, Columbia City. Busche was traveling west on US 30 behind Barton’s vehicle when Barton slowed her vehicle. Busche’s vehicle rear-ended Barton’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
