Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
3:11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 201 East Main St, Syracuse. Driver: Gary A. Clark, 41, North Huntington St., Syracuse. Officers with the Syracuse Police Department were involved in the pursuit of Michael Mench’s vehicle. As Mench fled on foot, Clark, a police officer continued chasing him through a yard. Clark’s vehicle struck a railroad tie that was being used as a landscaping piece. Damage up to $2,500.
3:08 a.m. Friday, April 13, West Boston St., south of North Main St., Syracuse. Drivers: Michael D. Mench, 36, Turkey Creek Drive, Milford, and Michael J. Bumbaugh, 30, North Huntington St., Syracuse. Officers with the Syracuse Police Department were involved in the pursuit of Mench’s vehicle, which failed to stop for them. During the chase, Mench’s vehicle drove through several yards, parking lots and fences. Bumbaugh, a police officer, struck the rear end of Mench’s vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Mench’s vehicle then left the roadway and came to a rest. Mench fled the scene and was apprehended minutes later. Damage up to $10,000.
8:41 p.m. Thursday, April 12, West CR 600N, west of North CR 200W, Leesburg. Driver: Scott D. Mehlberg, 44, West CR 600N, Leesburg. Mehlberv was traveling west on CR 600N when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
11:36 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, West US 30, near North CR 800W, Atwood. Drivers: Ricky A. England, 55, East Grist Road, North Manchester, and Michael G. Thacker, 21, West CR 100S, Etna Green. England was traveling south on CR 800W when he began to cross US 30. England did not see Thacker’s vehicle in the right hand lane of travel. The front of England’s vehicle struck Thacker’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
12:51 a.m. Monday, April 9, South CR 900E, south of East Ryerson Road, Pierceton. Driver: Brogan M. Hoover, 20, North Line St. Apartment 3, South Whitley. Hoover was driving south on 900E when her vehicle struck a raccoon. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:10 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2211 East Center St. Driver: Bhumi V. Bhalala, 22, East Center St. Apartment 6, Warsaw. Bhalala was driving east through the Owens East parking lot, preparing to make a right turn to travel south on North McKinley Street. A vehicle entered the parking lot in front of her and Bhalala panicked, turning right, going over a curb and striking a parked and unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
2:46 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 1695 West Lake St. Driver: Luisa Macias Moncivaiz, 45, North Cook St., Warsaw. Macias Moncivaiz was backing her vehicle in the Wilby’s gas station parking lot, not noticing a parked and unoccupied vehicle behind her. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:15 a.m. Friday, April 13, South SR 15, north of Dawn Drive. Driver: Daniel M. Schrameck, 21, First St., La Fontaine. Schrameck was traveling north on SR 15 when he closed his eyes briefly due to fatigue. Schrameck’s vehicle left the roadway. Schrameck turned back onto the roadway, overcorrected twice, and ran off the roadway again. The vehicle came came to rest on its top. Schrameck sustained lacerations to his lower left arm but declined transport from EMS. Damage up to $25,000.
1:10 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 1310 Park Ave. Driver: Donald L. Clay, 57, East CR 100S, Pierceton. Clay was moving his truck forward when his vehicle’s tailgate swung open, striking a parked and unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
