FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw softball team put up a strong rally, but just could not finish it off Wednesday night.

The Tigers fell to host Carroll by an 8-7 final in a non-conference contest.

The Chargers led 8-4 after five innings before Warsaw scored twice in the sixth frame and once in their final at-bat in the seventh.

The duo of Lindsey Bradley and Saylor Bradley each had an RBI single in the sixth for the Tigers. Carmen Albertson drove in the final tally in the seventh on a groundout.

Warsaw took a 2-0 lead in the first as Saylor Bradley led the way in the first frame with an RBI single. Carroll scored a pair in the home half of the first to tie the contest and took control with four runs in the third inning.

Warsaw outhit the Chargers 11-9. Saylor Bradley and Lindsey Bradley each had three hits, while Madison Lane had a pair.

Courtney Chookie took the pitching loss as she struck out three and walked just one in six innings. She gave up with three earned runs as the Tigers had four errors.

Kirsten Landez earned the pitching win for Carroll as she struck out five and gave up four earned runs.

Warsaw, now 0-3, will play at South Bend Washington Friday at 6 p.m. That game was moved from Saturday to Friday due to the weather forecast for Saturday, which calls for rain. The Tigers will then open Northern Lakes Conference play at Wawasee on Monday.
