Richard Gunter, 82, Warsaw and formerly of Mentone, passed away at 2:58 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Columbia City to Elmer and Thelda (Wise) Gunter.

Mr. Gunter graduated from Claypool High School and served in the Army from 1953-1956 as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was a farmer and employed at Warren Brothers Drywall and was the Owner of Claypool Tin Shop.

He is survived by his former spouse Joy (Leckrone) Gunter, Warsaw. Children, Richard Kevin Gunter, Warsaw; Virgil W (Cathy) Gunter, Homosassa, Springs, Fla.; Robert L (Dawn), Warsaw; and James E (Patty), Claypool. Brothers: Marvin (Judy), Warsaw; and Herbert (Ginny), North Manchester. Grandchildren; Ariana (Nathan) Golemon, Justin (Meghan), Katie, Taylor, Sam Gunter, Anna and Ellie Bearss, Steven and Melissa Manninen, and Kayla (Craig) Plouffe. Also surviving are five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Keith A. Gunter. Brothers: Gordon E, Kenneth M, Doyle W and Donald Gunter, and a sister, Eva Griffith.

Calling hours are scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, April 13, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be conducted at noonFriday in the Funeral Chapel with Gary Loy officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Claypool with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army Military Funeral Honor Guard and American Legion Post #49.
