NEW PARIS — A semitractor and trailer hauling single coils of steel tipped over this morning on US 6 just west of the intersection of SR 15, north of Milford. The mishap occurred around 10:30 a.m.

The driver, Clayton Townsend, Fort Wayne, suffered a small cut to his left thumb in the mishap, but refused medical treatment.

Townsend stated he was northbound on SR 15, making a left turn onto US 6, heading west, when the coils shifted, causing his semitrailer and tractor to roll onto its side. No steel came off the tarp covered trailer bed and the semi missed hitting two large poles at the intersection.

Elkhart County sheriff’s deputies are at the scene. Traffic is not affected.
