Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest Of Pierceton Woman

PIERCETON — A recent traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia.

Shannon Nicole Hein, 35, 1363 S. 450 E., Pierceton, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor..

On March 17, an officer with the Claypool Police Department observed a tan Mercury Grand Marquis drive across the centerline. The officer checked the registration plate and discovered the registration plate belonged to a Ford Taurus.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer then conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Hein. Hein advised she had just purchased the vehicle. The officer asked if there was anything in the vehicle he should know about. Hein advised there was a bag of marijuana in the vehicle. The officer then obtained permission to search the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, the officer discovered a glass bowl, a bag of marijuana, a digital scale with methamphetamine residue and several small plastic bags.

Hein told the officer the illegal drugs belonged to a friend whose name she did not know.
