Lorene Spice, 92, formerly of Akron and Silver Lake areas, passed at 4:15 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2018, at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1925 in Fulton County, to Porter and Luvilla (Ballenger) Rhodes.

She married on April 19, 1947 in Akron, by Rev. Slaybaugh to Donnelly D. Spice, he survives.

She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife doing the work that was needed on the farm.

She was a 1944 graduate of Akron High School. She attended the Akron Church of God. She enjoyed sewing and keeping books. She was known to be a great cook.

She is survived by her husband; daughter: Susan (Rick) Green, Warsaw; son: Dennis (Linda) Spice, Champaign, Ill.; son-in-law: Michael Reed, Argos; six grandchildren: Melissa (Wayne) Lance; Aimee (Luke) Hrabosky; Kristie (Justine) Hayes; Danielle Spice; Kevin (Vanessa) Green; Eric (Amber) Green; eight great grandchildren; sister: Irene Miller, Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sharon Reed; sisters: Nina Chapman, Selena Gillespie, Emalene Kindig; brothers: Porter Rhodes Jr., Tom, Dale, Bobby and Loren.
Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 21. The funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 22. All services will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home in Akron. Pastor Kathy Nelson will officiate. Burial will be held at Akron Cemetery.
