WARSAW — A Claypool woman was arrested after stealing items from her father.

Ashley N. Hughes, 35, 1396 W. 800 S., Claypool, is being charged with theft, a level 6 felony.

On Jan. 4, a male subject, identified as Hughes’ father, reported to officers that some items were missing from his residence.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Jan. 7, Hughes’ father reported additional items missing from his residence. He provided a list of stolen items to officers.

Officers went to CashLand and located two space heaters that were pawned by Hughes.

Hughes’ father told officers that his grandson was invited into another male subject’s residence while Hughes was present. His grandson said that he saw some of the stolen items in the male’s residence while he was there.

Officers spoke with a male subject, who stated that he had been given a pool stick and angle grinder by Hughes. The pool stick and angle grinder were on the list of items stolen.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the male subject said that he had gone to pick up Hughes at her mother’s residence. She had a pile of items in the garage to load into the male’s vehicle. The subject loaded the items into his vehicle and went back to his residence with the items.

While searching the residence, officers found a crossbow case. Hughes said that she sold the crossbow to another male. Hughes admitted to taking the stolen property except for jewelry and a DVD player.
