PIERCETON — Business was very brief at this month’s Pierceton Town Council meeting on Monday, March 12.

First, the council continued its conversation from last month’s meeting on demolishing unsafe buildings. One property in particular, located at 102 N. Washington Street, is condemned due to a meth-related reason.

The council approved an unsafe building ordinance so that proceedings can be made on addressing owners via letter regarding unsafe properties.

Town Marshal Tim Sammons was present at the meeting to discuss the procedure that the Pierceton Police Department follows in the event of an officer-involved shooting. Sammons mentioned the incident that occurred in North Manchester last week, stating that its policy regarding those issues is lengthy and detailed.

He asked the board members to look over the policy and send him any questions they might have.

In other business:

  • The meeting minutes for Feb. 12 were approved.
  • The next town council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 9.
