LIGONIER — Michael Jerome Johnson, 35; Tiffani Elaine Cox, 30; and Krya Justine Frost, 25, all believed to have been living together in Fort Wayne will have formal charges filed against them in the double homicide in Ligonier Monday evening, March 5.

Justin Adams, 30, Ligonier, and Amanda “Mandy” Feldstein, 39, have been identified as the homicide victims. Adams was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, and Feldstein was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Johnson is facing charges of two counts of murder while committing robbery and attempted murder while committing robbery. Cox and Frost are facing charges of aiding in armed robbery, both level three felonies.

Noble County Prosecutor Eric Blackman sought and obtained two search warrants Wednesday, March 7, authorizing a search of Johnson’s vehicle and the clothing he was wearing when apprehended. A probable cause was held in Noble Superior Court, Division 1 with Judge Robert Kirsch, who found there was probable cause for the charges and granted Blackman additional time to evaluate the case.

Indiana State Police executed the search warrant on the vehicle Thursday morning. The vehicle had been secured and taken to Ligonier Police Department after the arrests in Steuben County. No weapons or ammunition were located. However, a cellphone, hypodermic needles and several purses and handbags were found in the vehicle.

“At this time, we have enough information to bring these charges. The case remains active, and additional charges could be filed. Law enforcement is working diligently to try to locate the suspected murder weapon. Although it would not be necessary for prosecuting the case, we want it recovered for safety’s sake, especially if it may have been abandoned or discarded,” said Blackman, adding “if anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Ligonier Police Department.

“I want to once again commend the outstanding teamwork and coordination that resulted in persons of interest being quickly identified and located and which allowed us to file formal criminal charges so soon after the incident. We will work hard to bring this case to a formal conclusion in the courts and seek to hold those charged accountable for their actions,” said Blackman.

Details In Search Warrant

According to information in the affidavit in support of issuance of search warrant, it notes the initial call came at 8:50 p.m. from a female who reported someone came into apartment 101 and shot at someone before leaving the area.

The caller, Amber Brown, was not only a witness to the shooting, but had also been shot at by Johnson. Brown, however, was not struck by a bullet. It was through Brown police learned the name of one of the individuals involved and the type of vehicle the shooter had driven from the scene.

Through the investigation, police learned Johnson, his girlfriend, Frost and a third female, Cox, went to the apartment under the pretense of meeting Adams and Brown, to sell them methamphetamine. However, the intention was to retrieve a Prada purse, valued at $10,000, Johnson suspected Brown of stealing.

Authorities also learned when the trio arrived at the apartment, Adams started to run out of the apartment, with the two females chasing him, at which time Johnson followed and shot him in the back as he was running. When Johnson saw movement he turned and fired his gun at a female hitting her in the back and then fired at another female who he thought he also shot.

Police also learned Cox had given Johnson the gun prior to entering the apartment. Police have not located the black .45 caliber Colt Model 1911 gun used in the homicides.
