The NorthWood Middle School 7th grade girls basketball team opened conference tournament play with a win Monday night.

Macy Lengacher scored 12 points as the Panthers topped Schmucker 36-23. Lengacher also had four rebounds and three steals in the win.

Caitlin Knepp had nine points to go with four rebounds and three steals. Makyla Bonee had six points and 10 rebounds, while Amy Adams had three points and two boards. The trio of Gracelyn Harner, Carly Mast and Sidney Martin each added two points.

NorthWood, now 10-4, will play Concord in the second round of the tourney.

The NorthWood 8th grade team saw its season end with a 38-27 loss to Schmucker in Big 11 Tournament play.

Emma Martz paced the Panthers with 11 points.

Kira Gongwer scored nine points and Jade Levitz had five rebounds for NorthWood, which finishes its season with a mark of 10-6.
