Sherwood. T. “Tom” Peters, 61, Syracuse, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018, at Goshen Hospital in Goshen. He was born on March 1, 1957, in Stroudsburg, Penn. to Sherwood Lloyd & Alice (Miller) Peters.

He grew up in Pennsylvania and attended East Stroudsburg High School. He was married in April 1986 in East Stroudsburg, Penn. to Norma Prybo who preceded him on Nov. 20, 2015. And had moved to the Syracuse area in 1997 from Pennsylvania. He was employed at Jasper Plastics in Syracuse and formerly worked at A.I.A. Countertops in Syracuse for three years, Precision Fabrication in Ligonier for eight years, and Skyline Corporation in Goshen for 15 years.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Syracuse and raised in the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Strauch, Crystal River, Fla.; son, Sherwood Peters Jr., Bangor, Penn.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; five sisters: Shirley Warner, Kunkletown, Penn.; Pat Reaser, Effort, Penn.; Marge Gearhart, Mount Bethel, Penn.; Sharon Rhinehart, Gilbert, Penn.; Kathy Crowley, Effort, Penn.; five brothers: Mike Peters, Sciota, Penn.; Aaron Peters, Effort, Penn.; Terry Peters, Kresgeville, Penn.; Howard Peters, Saylorsburg, Penn.; Tim Peters, Effort, Penn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Eddie Peters.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N St Rd 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 6–8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6,at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S Huntington St., Syracuse. Private family scattering will take place in Pennsylvania at a later date.
