MISHAWAKA – Kira Gongwer had a big game to pace the NorthWood Middle School 8th grade girls basketball team to  a win over host John Young Tuesday night.

Gongwer canned 20 points as the Panthers prevailed 35-27.

Alana Lehman had four points and Julia Wingard three for the winners. Emma Martz led her team with five rebounds.

NorthWood improves to 9-3 on the season.

The NorthWood 7th grade girls team edged past John Young 22-21.

Sidney Martin led the winners with eight points and three rebounds.

Macy Lengacher had five points and two steals and Makyla Bonee had three points to go with five rebounds and four steals. The trio of Gracelyn Harner, Caitlin Knepp and Sophie Grueser each had two points for the Panthers, who improve to 6-4.
