
Larry D. Carey, 89, Warsaw, passed away at 6:33 a.m. on Sunday morning Feb. 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Huntington to Esther (Gardner) and Fred O. Carey. On July 17, 1948, he was married to the love of his life, Hulleta Jackson, who survives. They spent most of their married lives in the Warsaw area where they raised their children.
He was a 1946 graduate of South Whitley High School. He was a building contractor and land developer. His creative talents were expressed in working with wood. He built a wooden boat, cabinets, and furniture for numerous friends and family members. He was a member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church and will be fondly remembered for his love of people and his awe of God’s creation. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Hulleta, his children, grandchildren and countless friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Hulleta Carey, Warsaw; his son: Tim (wife Deb) Carey, Montrose, Colorado; and three daughters: Lara (husband Rod) Rockefeller, Plymouth; Cathy (husband Mike) Metzger, Warsaw; and Judy (husband Tom) Van Meter, Leesburg. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at Warsaw Wesleyan Church, 2402 W. Old Road 30, Warsaw and officiated by Pastor Jarod Osborne. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
