WARSAW — Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy held their January meeting at the Warsaw Ivy Tech Community College campus. The session focused on higher education opportunities and pathways for Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy students.

Presenters included Grace College’s Kearstin Criswell, director of student involvement, along with student involvement team members Ellie Price and Spencer Roberts. They discussed stewardship, getting more out of college than traditional education and prospects to get involved outside the classroom to grow as an individual as well as through knowledge.

Speakers from Ivy Tech included Claire Baker, 21st Century Scholars coordinator and transfer advocate, and Joyce Baker, assistant director of career development. They used an interactive tool for students to clarify college facts and myths. Baker talked to KYLA students about transfer options following completion of an Ivy Tech program.

Group dialogue concluded the meeting where students met in small groups with a college graduate to discuss their experiences in higher education. The next session centered on leadership styles will be at Combined Community Services.
