WINONA LAKE – Josh McDaniel added another accolade to his résumé Thursday night.

The talented shooter canned his 54th three-pointer of the season to become the school’s all-time single season three-point shooter. The note, however, came in a 68-56 loss to potential sectional foe Lakewood Park Christian.

McDaniel’s three in the fourth quarter pushed him past his own record, 53, which he set last season and was tied with David James in 1993. McDaniel is far and away the best three-point shooter in school history, having made 179, over 60 clear of the closest Cougar on the list. In all, McDaniel scored 24 points Thursday night, hitting two three-pointers.

Jake Harmon added 18 points and Landon Twombly had 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.

LPC (4-14) did its job in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 points in the frame and did it with just four field goals, but made 12 of 16 free throw attempts. Carter Gonzalez led the Panthers with 26 points, hitting six threes on the night. Isaac Schlotterback tossed in 21 points and five rebounds and Drew Lyons pitched in 11 points and four rebounds.

LCA, which played its first game in over a week, falls to 7-11 overall with its next game scheduled for Saturday night against Fort Wayne Smith Academy.
