Lakeview Cagers Split With Edgewood

WARSAW – The Lakeview Middle School girls basketball teams split in action versus crosstown rival Edgewood Wednesday night.

The Lakeview 7th grade ladies team topped Edgewood 28-24 in overtime.

Macy Wayne led the way for the winners with 10 points, including all six of her team’s points in the overtime session. Wayne hit 4-6 free throws in the win.

Kinsey Atkins hit the biggest bucket of the game as she scored with 23 seconds to play in regulation for Lakeview to send the game to overtime.

Lauren Grose and Tessa Graney each had six points as Lakeview improved to 9-0. Lauren Eastwood had three points, while Atkins had two and Macy Perry one.

Macy Bonifield led the way for Edgewood with six points. Emily Bugg scored five, Taylon Chastain four and Zoe Bergan three. The trio of Bonnie Hampton, Jordan Love and Avery Fitzgerald each had two points.

The Lakeview 8th grade squad lost to Edgewood 47-27.

Cora West poured in 21 points to lead Lakeview. The trio of Tori Jones, Yasminn Avila and Reggan Meadows each had two points.

Lakeview drops to 7-3 on the season.
