NorthWood Basketball: Panthers Pile Up The Points To Top OD

NorthWood SportsNAPPANEE – The NorthWood girls basketball team gave the home scoreboard in the Panther Pit quite the workout Tuesday night.

The Panthers piled up the points in outscoring Oregon-Davis 78-61 in non-conference play.

The 78 points was a season high by NorthWood, which entered play Tuesday night averaging 45 points-per-game. The previous high this season was 66 points in a 66-14 win over Jimtown.

NorthWood led 20-15 after the opening period and 35-30 at halftime over the Class 1-A No. 16 ranked Bobcats. The Panthers then outscored their guests 43-31 in the final half.

Savannah Feenstra had a monster all-around game for the Panthers. The lone senior scored 21 points and also led her team with 12 rebounds. The Bethel College recruit also had four assists in the win.

Kenzie Bergman also canned 21 points for the winners. She also had four steals in the victory.

Sophomore Kate Rulli had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers. Sophomore Maddy Payne finished with 11 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.

Mercedes Rhoades led OD with 20 points.

NorthWood improves to 15-7 on the season, while the Bobcats drop to 9-11.

There was no junior varsity game.

NorthWood will wrap up its regular season with a Northern Lakes Conference game at Warsaw Thursday night. The Panthers will then play West Noble in the Class 3-A Fairfield Sectional on Jan 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Oregon-Davis will host North Miami Thursday evening and then play Elkhart Central on Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
