
Dorothy May Drummond, 99, Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, passed away at 10:05 a.m., Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake. She was born June 17, 1918, in Washington, D.C. to Archer and Ethel (Haliday) Chappell.
On Oct. 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Rockwell R. Drummond who preceded her in death in 1980. She grew up in the Washington D.C.-Maryland area and worked as a Bookkeeper for Southland Corporation. She and her husband subsequently retired to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. After his passing she moved to Warsaw to be near family. She enjoyed cake decorating and crocheting beautiful blankets and tablecloths for family and friends. She attended First Brethren Church of Warsaw and the Senior Centers in Warsaw and Winona Lake and was lifetime member of Eastern Star. Furthermore, she enjoyed concerts, parties and shopping.
She was a loving wife and mother.
She will be missed by her two sons: Thomas (spouse Jean) Drummond, Warsaw; and Robert (spouse Donna) Drummond, Milton, Del.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
The family will host a private celebration of her life and she will be laid to rest in Oak Hall, Va. with her husband. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with her arrangements.
