KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — A case of a stolen iPhone from a bar has resulted in the arrest of Kirk William Depoister, 42, who has addresses of 0865 S. Mayflower Road, LaPorte, and 106 E. Pittsburgh St., Syracuse.

He was arrested Wednesday afternoon and booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on theft charges, along with probation violation. Official charges of theft, a level 6 felony, were filed Oct. 9, 2017. He is being held on a $2,800 surety and cash bond for the theft charges and a $1,000 cash bond on the probation violation charge.

Court documents report Sept. 26, 2017, a female reported her iPhone 7 as stolen. She stated while she was working at Danny’s Sports Bar Sept. 8, her phone came up missing after it was placed on the bar. Through video surveillance and a photograph, the victim identified Depoister as the person who had taken the phone. The phone was valued at $800.

Depoister was convicted in LaPorte Superior Court IV in March 1995 for conversion and in LaPorte Circuit Court Dec. 14, 2014, for theft.
