KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Early this morning, Dec. 24, the National Weather Service upgraded the area’s winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning. The warning went into effect at 7 a.m. and will remain in effect through 7 p.m. tomorrow.

With a winter storm warning, heavy snow is expected with an accumulation of between 5 and 8 inches. The National Weather Service advises people plan for difficult travel conditions. Wind gusts up to 30 mph on Christmas Day will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Very cold air is expected this entire week. High temperatures will be in the teens, low temperatures around zero and wind chills below zero at times.
