NorthWood Basketball: Ladies Remain Unbeaten In NLC
PLYMOUTH – A strong finish helped the NorthWood girls basketball team remain unbeaten in conference play Saturday night.
Savannah Feenstra led the way as the Panthers closed out host Plymouth for a 39-32 win in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Feenstra scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the final quarter as the Black Swish outscored the Pilgrims by a 14-8 count over the final eight minutes.
Feenstra, the lone senior for NorthWood, hit 8-14 from the free throw line. She also led her team with 12 rebounds.
Coach Adam Yoder’s team won its sixth straight game to improve to 9-2 overall and move to 3-0 in the NLC.
NorthWood led 10-7 after the opening period before the game was tied at 20-20 at halftime. The Panthers inched ahead 25-24 at the end of the third quarter.
Maddy Payne had eight points to go with 10 rebounds for the winners. Kate Rulli had seven rebounds and Kenzie Bergman two steals.
The duo of Karlie Fielstra and Neely Trenshaw each had three assists for NorthWood.
The Panthers hit 16-26 from the line in the win.
Claire Tanner led Plymouth with 10 points. The Pilgrims drop to 6-6 overall and go to 1-1 in league play.
NorthWood hosts Fairfield (11-1) Tuesday night and then plays at Bremen (6-7) Thursday night.
Plymouth is idle until hosting its own tournament on Dec. 30.
