Russell Lee Shapland, 56, Elkhart, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Goshen Hospital. He was born June 12, 1961, in Goshen, to James E. & Edythe L. (Greenewalt) Shapland. He married Shirley Jean (Roth) Shapland on May 12, 1979. Russell worked as a truck driver.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley, Elkhart; children, Teresa Shapland, Elkhart, Thomas (Jennifer) Shapland, Goshen, Michael (Jessica) Shapland, Goshen; grandchildren, Leann Botts, Shari Bressan, Daisy Shapland, Maya Shapland, Janette Shapland, Rusty Botts, Christien Botts, Allen Shapland; siblings, Roger (Sue) Shapland, Nappanee and Steve (Virginia) Shapland Elkhart.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, George Shapland, sister, Caroline LeCount and a granddaughter, Baylee Shapland.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S.
