
Michael Eugene “Mike” O’Brien, 66, of Silver Lake, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, in Silver Lake. He was born on Aug. 30, 1951 in Marion to James and Wilma (Lees) O’Brien.
He graduated in 1969 from Warsaw High School and Indiana Barber College in Indianapolis. He was married on January 26, 1974 in North Manchester to Joyce E. Frieden who survives and lived most of his life in the Silver Lake area. He retired from RR Donnelly’s after 20 years as a material expeditor and formerly was a Barber at Columbia Clippers in Columbia City for 13 years, and worked at Magnavox in Columbia City.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Manchester, former president & coach at the Silver Lake Youth League, and coached at the Little League at Boggs Park in Warsaw.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce, his daughter, Marjae (James) Cashdollar, Fort Wayne; son: James (Monica Hoang) O’Brien, Columbus; five grandsons; brother: Larry (Linda) Barth, Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Cameron O’Brien, sister, Constance Myers, and nephew, Donald Jenkins.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Zion Lutheran Church, 113 W. Main St., North Manchester. Burial will be in the Silver Lake Cemetery at a later date.
