James Allen Amsden, 80, passed away at 1:05 p.m., Dec. 10, 2017, in Signature Health Care, Bremen.

He was born Sept. 16,1937 in Goshen to Carl Amsden Sr. and Etta Marie Metzger Amsden where he lived most of his life. James married Julia Hartzell Amsden July 22, 1961, she passed away, June 30, 2016.

He is survived by his children: Lisa Schwenke of Dallas, Texas; John (Ruby) Amsden of Palm City, Fla.; Patty Amsden of Lawton, Mich.; Carl (Jessica) Amsden of Bourbon; Kaiah Amsden and Nathaniel Amsden both of Tupelo, Miss. Eleven grandchildren: Jordan Kirby, Caitlin (Blake) Lee, Nick Amsden, Marissa Amsden, Hannah Amsden, Quentin Amsden, Tyler Amsden, Lilly Amsden, Caiden Amsden, Asia Clark and Devon Amsden; six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Games, Martha Phillips and Karletta Skaggs.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Julia (Hartzell) Amsden; sisters: Miriam Fryer, Betty Boone, Dorothy A.; brothers: Carl Jr., Billy A., Robert, Russell, Richard, Jack, James and Roland (Ron) Amsden.

Jim served in the United States Army and National Guard and his career was a operator at Dairy Farm Products. He graduated from Goshen High School class of 1955 and attended Bourbon United Pentecostal Church of Bourbon. Besides loving his family in his spare time he was a history buff, studying Civil War history. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Per James’s request he will be cremated. A grave side memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 at Parks Cemetery where he will be placed with his wife.
