SYRACUSE — A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Syracuse man after the officer discovered marijuana and methamphetamine.

Jacob Lewis Larkin, 25, 507 N. Dolan Drive, Syracuse, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

On Nov. 8, 2016, an officer with the Syracuse Police Department was stopped in traffic when he observed a silver Audi approaching at a very high rate of speed. The Audi abruptly turned into the turn lane and revved the engine out-of-control as it made the turn.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Larkin. At that point, the officer identified that Larkin’s driver’s license was suspended prior and removed Larkin from the vehicle.

Upon searching Larkin’s person, the officer found marijuana inside his coat pocket. While emptying his pockets, Larkin dropped a small blue plastic bag on the ground, which contained methamphetamine. More marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle’s center console.

According to authorities Larkin was incarcerated in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility when official charges were filed Feb. 6, 2017. He was transferred from Elkhart County and was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 15, with a $10,500 surety and cash bond.
