New Items This November

New movies and TV series include “The Beguiled,” “Big Little Lies (Season 1),” “Transformers: The Last Knight” and “Westworld: the complete first season.” New movies for children include “Leap!,” “Descendants 2” and “Cars 3.” Kids can get excited for Christmastime with festive new movies like “A Puppy for Christmas,” “Thomas and Friends: Christmas on Sodor” and “Bob the Builder: White Christmas.”

Tom Hanks’ debut book, “Uncommon Type: Some Stories,” includes 17 short stories. Isabel Allende’s latest novel, “In The Midst of Winter,” chronicles two love stories during different eras. “Deep Freeze” by John Sandford and “Killing Season” by Faye Kellerman are sure to entertain individuals who love a good mystery.

Adult CDs include “Reputation” by Taylor Swift, “Funhouse” by P!nk and “Road Less Traveled” by Lauren Allaina.

Young adults can enjoy reading “Long Way Down” by Jason Reynolds, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway” by Jeff Kinney and “Sun Warrior” by P.C. Cast. These novels will be located in the new teen fiction section.

New large print editions have been acquired including “Enigma” by Catherine Coulter, “To Be Where You Are” by Jan Karon and “The Rooster Bar” by John Grisham.

Four new editions to the graphic novel series “Case Closed” can be found in the teen graphic novel section along with “Murder” by Gosho Aoyama, “Batman: the City of Owls” and “Batman: Superheavy” — both by Scott Snyder — available in November.

Kids may enjoy listening to the soundtrack to Disney’s new movie “CoCo” and the soundtrack to “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

Several new board books will hit the shelves including “Welcome” by Mo Willems, “Under the Sea” by Kate Riggs and “ABC Spanish” by Aless Baylis.

Free “Nourish You Skin” Nutrition Program

Cold weather is upon us and it takes a little extra effort to take care of our skin in winter months. In this one hour “Nourish Your Skin” program, learn about things that can damage your skin, how to maintain skin barriers through nutrition, hygiene and protective measures as well as learn about how to perform skin self-checks to detect suspicious skin spots. The program starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27. There will be a sign-up sheet at the adult circulation desk beginning Nov. 20. Bring a friend and sign up to win a door prize.

Win The Book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio

Individuals of any age can enter to win one of two copies of Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Only one entry per person is allowed. Winners will be drawn Nov. 30. No library card is needed to win.

Apply For Free Full-Day Preschool

Please apply for a grant to get your child into free full-day preschool starting in January. Child who qualify must have been four before Aug. 1, 2017, families must qualify for low-income assistance and both parents in the home work part-or full-time jobs or are currently in school.

Knitting Club

Create an original gift by knitting and crocheting with the Knitting Club at Milford Public Library. The Knitting Club will meet from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1. No signup or library card is needed.
