Zelda L. Brubaker Blackford — UPDATED

Zelda L. Brubaker Blackford, 85, Warsaw, passed away at 4:30 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, in Mason Health Care & Rehabilitation, Warsaw. She was born on Jan. 15, 1932 to Elmer and Esther (Horn) Sarber in Mentone.

She was married to her first husband Jack Brubaker in 1947 and preceded her in 1970, then she married Robert Blackford in November of 1982 and he preceded her on March 25, 2007.

Zelda trained employees for Jomac, Inc., she retired in 1982. She was a past member of Cook’s Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana.

She loved her cats, served on the Kosciusko County Election Board and Zelda loved to sing and she was a song leader at Cook’s Chapel.

Zelda is survived by her daughters, Susan Conley, Peg Brubaker, Rusty Brubaker, a step son Mike (Carol) Blackford, a step daughter, Anne (Herb) Bailey all of Warsaw; a brother, Eugene (Marie) Sarber, Warsaw; a sister, Fay Whetstone, Mentone; grandchildren, Melissa Brumfield, Doug Brumfield Jr, Shawn (Mary) Wentz, Chris Wentz, Shannon (Trace) Hansen, Haley (Brett) Reffitt, Carissa (Tyler) Bell, Caitlynne (Kyle) Champoux and Portia Brubaker; numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and a son, John E. Brubaker.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. with Pastor Marc Goodwin officiating.    

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
