Nathan Polston, principal of Leesburg Elementary, and a group of Leesburg teachers visit a school in Utah with Carolyn Schubach, Utah DLI administrator director, and Lois Lovell, Utah DLI English director.

LEESBURG — Leesburg Elementary recently returned from visiting multiple dual language immersion schools in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This trip, which was paid for by the Indiana Department of Education’s DLI grant Leesburg received, allowed the principal and a group of teachers to observe different programs and collaborate with teachers, principals and Utah’s Department of Education’s DLI program directors.

The trip allowed the group of educators to develop a stronger understanding of Utah’s DLI model, which is the model Warsaw Community Schools will continue to follow for their DLI programs.

Leesburg’s DLI program will begin in kindergarten in the 2018-2019 school year. Leesburg Elementary will be looking for fluent Spanish speaking teachers and paraprofessionals for the upcoming year. If you are interested in learning more about the program, or interested in getting your child on the waitlist, please call the school at (574) 453-4121.
