Speeding Leads To Discovery Of Meth, Marijuana

KOSCIUSKO — A Syracuse man was caught speeding and a traffic stop ensued. The officer discovered methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Tyler Jordan Jeckert, 26, 207 N. Oak St., Syracuse, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

On Nov. 3, an officer with the North Webster Police Department conducted a traffic stop on SR 13 in regards to a vehicle traveling 63 mph in a 50 mph zone.

While talking with the driver, who was identified as Jeckert, the officer observed a glass pipe with burnt residue sitting in plain view on the center console. Jeckert admitted that he used the glass pipe to smoke marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a second smoking device, a small bag of marijuana and a bag of methamphetamine.

Jeckert was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended operator’s license and issued a warning ticket for speeding. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 4, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
