MISHAWAKA — You can learn how to be one of Habitat for Humanity’s newest homeowners on Monday night.

Some work has already started for the 2018 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.

That will put 21 brand new homes near the corner of East Jefferson Boulevard and North Byrkit Avenue in Mishawaka in August.

Last week, they raised the roof for one of the first houses already underway.

The building blitz with President and Mrs. Carter will take place August 26 through 31.

An informational meeting takes place Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Liberty Elementary School on Pregel Drive.

Habitat for Humanity representatives will explain the process and applications will be available.

Prospective homeowners qualify based on need, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and willingness to partner with the organization.
